SPS hands over 10,000 euros to the Sternenzelt children's hospice in Bamberg, Germany
Donation instead of customer gifts for Christmas
Dec 9, 2024
Bamberg – The Sternenzelt children's and youth hospice in Bamberg, Germany was delighted to receive a visit from SPS Germany GmbH at the end of the year, as the company had a very special Christmas present with it: a cheque for 10,000 euros. With this donation, SPS is supporting an important regional institution that cares for children with life-shortening illnesses and their families.
In return, SPS decided not to give Christmas presents to its customers. “We have always enjoyed showing our appreciation to our business partners with small gifts at Christmas. Now we would rather use the funds where they are really needed. We are convinced that our customers welcome this decision and are pleased that the money is going to a good cause instead,” explained Michael Auerbach, CEO of SPS Germany GmbH.

The Sternenzelt children's and youth hospice was built in Bamberg in spring 2023 and offers a center for children and young people up to the age of 26 with life-shortening illnesses and their families. “With this donation, we are supporting an important facility right here in Bamberg, which does everything it can to ensure that the children feel well looked after, can draw strength and, together with their parents and siblings, can let the life-shortening illness fade into the background,” emphasized Oliver Wibbe, Managing Director of SPS Germany, during the on-site visit.
On behalf of the entire employee base of over 400 colleagues in Bamberg, Michael Auerbach and Oliver Wibbe handed over the symbolic donation cheque to hospice manager Beate Neumeister. They were given an insight into the organization and its projects, including the “Seasonal celebrations” project, which will benefit from the donation. “We want to use the generous donation to create special moments for the families at Christmas, Easter and other occasions. For example, we organize a band, create a festive buffet, provide presents and fulfil the children's wishes,” says Neumeister.
